Ethel L. Boyd, 101, passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at The Waters of New Castle.
She was born on March 18, 1916 in Quebec, Canada to Walter and Masie (Clinger) Ellsworth.
Ethel was a 1934 graduate of New Lisbon HS and a member of the 1932 Sectional Championship Basketball Team. In 1980, Ethel retired after 26 years with Delco Remy in Anderson. She is a member of the 1st Missionary Baptist Church in Dublin, the Do-Gooders of Dublin and was an avid crossword puzzle worker.
Ethel is survived by 3 children – Phyllis Ann Edwards, Kathy (Earl) Branham and Robert J. (Barbara) Boyd; 9 grandchildren Jason (Sherry) Boyd, Chad (Sarah) Boyd, Troy (Kathy) Branham, Phil (Rose) Edwards, Danny (Amy) Edwards, David (Johnnie) Edwards, Lori (Rob) Schweitzer, Billy Boyd and Annette Boyd; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildlren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James W. Boyd on Sept. 19, 1997; a son, Phillip in 1974; a grandson Phil, Jr.; a granddaughter, Debbie; a brother Omar Ellsworth; 4 sisters – Fairmal Hallgarth, Elenor Stubbs, Martha Cassidy and Anna Plumbridge.
Friends may gather at Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 11:00 am until start of services at 1:00 pm with Pastor Greg Guffy officiating. Burial will follow in New Lisbon Cemetery.
Donations may be made to 1st Missionary Baptist Church in Dublin or American Cancer Society.
