David A. Austerman, age 70, of Richmond, died Saturday evening (October 27, 2018) at Reid Health. He was born in Richmond on May 13, 1948 to Joseph and Alice “Cookie” Turner Austerman and had lived here all of his life. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and served in the U.S. Navy in Viet Nam. He was a retired 40 year employee of the former Kemper Cabinet Company. David was a life-time member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was also a member of the 4th Degree.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie Corman Austerman; son Kenneth (Rachel) Austerman of Milton, IN; grandchildren Dustin (Heather) Austerman of Leavenworth, Kansas and Makayla (Mark Toschlog) Austerman of Milton, IN; great grandchildren Gabriella Ballin and Parker Austerman; his mother-in-law Evelyn Corman of Richmond; sisters Ruth Ann (Richard) Alexander, Marilyn (Michael) Petty, Marjorie Brookshear; brothers John (Debbie) Austerman, Charlie Austerman, Raymond Austerman and Fred (Sue) Austerman; nieces and nephews
Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday (October 30, 2018) in Oak Park Pentecostals Church (1920 Chester Blvd). Rev. Ron McFarland will officiate and military rites will be conducted by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Burial will be later in the Dayton National Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (October 30, 2018) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.
