Betty J. Allen, 93, a longtime resident of Cambridge City, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Ambassador Health Care in Centerville.

She was born on September 13, 1924 in Middletown, IN the daughter of Nettie Butler. Betty was married to Laughton Allen on April 13, 1944. Laughton and Betty ran Allen Chevrolet in Cambridge City for many years. Betty was a long time member of Cambridge City Christian Church. She was a lifetime member of Phi Chi Epsilon sorority. Betty worked at Audree’s and Woodward’s Dress Shop. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She was an avid Lincoln High School Sports fan and I.U. basketball fan.

Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Bertsch, Nancy (Mike) Alford and Missy (Phil) Renforth; and six grandchildren, Rob (Amy) Schwark, Lauri (John) Hunsucker, Lisa (Dave) Voorde, Kelli (Chris)Quimby, Grant and Peyton Renforth: 4 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband of 60 years G. Laughton Allen in 2004; 4 infant great grandchildren, a sister and brother.

A celebration of her life will be at the Cambridge City Christian Church, 106 W. Church St. Cambridge City at 10:00am on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 with Danny Berry officiating.
Friends may gather at the church on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 3:00pm until 8:00 pm and from 9:00am until start of services on Wednesday. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Laughton Allen Memorial Scholarship Fund at First Bank Richmond or Cambridge City Christian Church.
