Connersville, Ind. – Tanner Jordan Russell, 20, of Connersville, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 as a result of a truck accident in Connersville. He was born on December 21, 1996 in Oxford, Ohio and is the son of Latresha Russell Grubbs and Jeremy Scott Grubbs of Connersville. He was a 2015 graduate of Connersville High School and the Whitewater Career Center in Connersville where he studied to be an auto service technician. Following his graduation, he worked at Stant Manufacturing. Later he became employed at Mac Machine in Connersville, and was presently employed there. He had worked there for almost two years.
He loved music, and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He loved to listen to his Grandpa D. play the guitar and sing. His grandpa taught him how to play the guitar. He also loved to ride 4-wheelers and dirt bikes and work on trucks and cars. One of his favorite things to do was to hang out at Vanmeter’s Motor Sport Shop in Connersville and Buffalo Wild Wings with his friends. He especially loved spending time with his wonderful family including eating his Grandma Patty’s home cooked sweets. Everyone knew he was an amazing dad to his seven-month old daughter – Savanna Jordan Russell. She was the joy of his life.
He will be greatly missed by many, many people in his life. Besides his parents, he also leaves behind his precious daughter – Savanna Jordan Russell at home, his grandparents – Herlon D. and Patty Russell of Connersville, Charles and Becky Grubbs of Connersville; uncles – Joey (Sherri) Russell of Connersville, Danny (Jackie) Grubbs of Connersville, Brian (Kim) Grubbs of Cambridge City, Rick (Christine) Grubbs of Fishers; an aunt – Kathie (Dan) Truesdale of Connersville; many cousins and friends. He will also be greatly missed by a very special person in his life and also the mother of his child – Cejay Nicole Robertson of Cambridge City. He was preceded in death by his infant brother – Hunter Braydon Grubbs who passed away in 2005. He was also preceded in death by his great-grandparents – Hezekiah and Gearldine Estes, Wilbur and Ruby Grubbs, Johnny and Myrtle Russell, and Byron and Rita Cordray.
The funeral service for Tanner will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Urban-Winkler Funeral Home in Connersville with Tanner’s cousin – Reverend Gary Dwayne Lee – of Dryden Road Pentecostal Church of Dayton, Ohio, officiating. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Everton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a college trust fund for his daughter – Savanna Jordan Russell – and may be made at the funeral home.
