RICHMOND, Ind. – Harold L. Sayne, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Golden Living Center–Golden Rule.
Born February 22, 1929, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, to Robert L. and Stella Jenkins Sayne, Harold lived in Richmond for most of his life. He was a 1947 graduate of Webster High School. Harold served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, having received two bronze stars. He was president of Sayne Builders, and built homes in Hunters Pointe, Wynfield, and Toschlog Additions. Harold was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, former member of Wayne County Builder’s Association, and former member of American Legion Harry Ray Post #65. He enjoyed his retirement years spending time in the spring and summer fishing in Minnesota with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Alyson (Tim) Harrell of Centerville, Indiana; sons, Keith A. (Marla) Sayne and Brian L. (Vicki) Sayne, both of Richmond and Brice E. Sayne of Brookville, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Sayne, Christopher (Bethany) Harrell, Andrew “A.J.” (Kaci) Harrell, Matthew Sayne, Alyssa (Tim) Wysong, Cheyenne Sayne Lance, and Caitlyn Sayne; great-grandchildren, Austin, Zidane, Maci, Jayse, and Avery; brother, Glen Sayne of Marietta, Georgia; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Harriett Y. Tibbott Sayne, who died April 10, 2013; sister, Wilma Braden; and four brothers, Karl, James, Lawrence, and Leon Sayne.
Visitation for Harold L. Sayne will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 121 South 18th Street, Richmond with Rev. Robert Meckley officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
