Richmond, Ind. – David C. Petty, age 66, of Richmond, Indiana, died August 3, 2017, at Ambassador Healthcare. Born September 10, 1950, to Robert L. and Carolyn Campbell Petty, David was a life-long resident of this community. He was a 1968 graduate of Richmond High School. David’s longtime passion was NHRA drag racing. He and his friends had a love affair with cars and enjoyed hours working on, racing, and attending racing events.
Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Bader of Richmond; sisters, Cheryl (John) Prentice of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Janet (Mike) Elstro of Richmond; stepsister, Suzanne (Jim) Phenis of Richmond; stepbrother, Mike (Cathy) Haley of Richmond; aunt, Jean McGarvey; cousins; nieces; nephews; and some very faithful friends. He was preceded in death by his father; stepmother, Helen Petty; and stepfather, William Bader.
Visitation for David C. Petty will be from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. The memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Ream officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. The family appreciates the special friends who have visited David faithfully during the eighteen months of his illness and the care given to him at Ambassador Healthcare.
