Cambridge City, IN – Rickie Lee Lawrence, 71, of Cambridge City, Indiana passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, November 2, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 5, 1945, in Cambridge City, one of four sons of Elmer Samuel and Nina Maxine Brandenburg Lawrence. A veteran of the U. S. Navy, he proudly served during the Vietnam War.
On September 23, 1966, he was married in Milton, Indiana to Edwina C. “Wendy” Estill. Mrs. Lawrence passed away March 28, 2004.
For 24 years, Rickie was employed at D & M in Connersville followed by three years at Carpenter Bus Factory in Richmond, Indiana. He also was employed at Master Brand Cabinet Company until it’s closing when he retired.
Rickie had been a member of the Western Avenue Baptist Church and for many years was a member of the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post #169 in Cambridge City. He enjoyed camping at Doc-O-Lakes Campground, woodworking and was an avid NASCAR fan. Also, he enjoyed calling BINGO at the Dublin Senior Citizens Apartments and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Matthew Edward Lawrence and Mark Allen (Lynn) Lawrence all of Connersville; daughter, Amanda Marie Lawrence (Brian) Shell of Greenwood, Indiana; four grandchildren, Baylee Lawrence, Owen Lawrence, Autumn Blaes, Mason Blaes; companion, Claudia Jean Moistner of Cambridge City; brothers, James (Doris) Lawrence of Biddeford, Maine, Rodney (Peggy) Lawrence of Phoenix, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, cousins and Doc-O-Lakes family.
Rickie was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, and sister-in-law, Jerry and Pat Lawrence.
Funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2016, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Eric Hopkins officiating. Burial with Military Honors conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council was held at Dale Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
