RICHMOND, Ind. – Clarence W. Bertsch, age 71, of Richmond, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Reid Health.
Born January 23, 1945, in Salem, Indiana, to Joseph William and Verle Mae Tarr Bertsch, Clarence lived in Wayne County most of his life.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. Clarence served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Dana Corporation after 35 years of service. Clarence was a member of the Zion’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting mushrooms, building and refurnishing furniture, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marlene Bettenbroke Bertsch; daughter, Tammy (Robert F.) Cornell of Richmond; grandchildren, Lennon and Isabella Grace Cornell; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Clarence Everett Bertsch and Jeffrey Wayne Bertsch; parents; sister, Peggy Ruth Walters; and brother, Joseph Raymond Bertsch.
Visitation for Clarence W. Bertsch was from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service was at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Meckley officiating. Burial was in Lutherania Cemetery.
