Organizers of Cambridge City’s Canal Days parade are seeking grand marshal nominees.
Nominations are due Aug. 8 for a Western Wayne resident who has exhibited strong community involvement throughout the years. They can be submitted at wwn.to/ccgmnom26.
Cambridge City Area Chamber of Commerce’s board will select the grand marshal from those recommendations.
In addition, registration for vendors and parade entrants is taking place for the festival, which will be in a temporary new location.
Organizers are moving many of the Sept. 12-13 festivities to the Creitz Park area a couple blocks north of downtown this year.
Because of ongoing Interstate 70 construction sending more traffic to U.S. 40, especially oversize loads, Indiana Department of Transportation raised safety concerns about usual placements of vendors and activities along the National Road.
Organizers are planning children’s activities in the park between the horse arena and the ball fields to draw crowds to the vendors.
Registration forms for booth rentals and the parade are available at cambridgecityindiana.org/canal-days. The deadline for both is Aug. 28.
Applications are to be mailed to Cambridge City Area Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 206, Cambridge City, IN 47327.
Vendors can set up between 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Booths are $50 with electricity available for $15 more.
The parade lineup begins at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at a new location, Front and Plum streets.
This year’s theme is “Lights, Camera, Canal Days,” and movie-themed floats are encouraged.
