A new community program offers teens and young men a safe space to talk about their experiences and learn from male mentors.

Townsend Community Center Inc. is launching the Anchor Project from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 12, at its building, 300 N. 10th St., Richmond.

The Anchor Project is designed to support the mental health and overall well-being of at-risk, low-to-moderate-income young men ages 13-19.

The program will include biweekly group sessions, mentorship, and a safe, supportive environment focused on healing, growth, connection and resilience. Participants can talk with mentors to build confidence, find support and plan for the future.

Reid Health is providing partial funding, and additional local organizations, businesses and community members are helping with the program’s development.
