Monroe Central defeated Cambridge City Lincoln 9-6 on Wednesday, May 28, in a game played on the campus of Earlham College.

The Eagles took a 2-1 lead after three innings before the Bears came back with six runs in the bottom of the third inning.

The Eagles battled back and nearly pulled out the win. The Eagles had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning with the go-ahead run at the plate. A hard-hit ball was handled by the Monroe Central second baseman to preserve the win and end Lincoln’s season.

Evan Stuckey had two hits for the Eagles. Isaac Middleton and Lane Wilson each had two hits for the Bears.

The Eagles finished their season with 10 wins. The last time Lincoln accumulated 10 wins came in the 2015-16 season.

It was the last game in an Eagle baseball uniform for Lincoln seniors Bear Ervin, Ricardo Garcia, Carson Hawk, Jack Patton, Leo Russell, Gage Sherwood, Evan Stuckey, Clayton Vickers and Oliver Webb.
