The Lincoln High School cheerleaders recently won the small school division at the Universal Cheerleading Association camp on the campus of Ball State University. It was the first time in several years that Lincoln had participated in a camp.

The nine-member Eagle squad, described by the judges as “small but mighty,” won first place in the small varsity division. Three squad members received individual accolades. Seniors Paige Robinson and Jaylen Rose were named “All Americans” and sophomore Braelyn Sourbeer received a “Pin it Forward” award. The squad received blue ribbons for every evaluation.

The squad has also learned to sign the national Anthem and do so at every Lincoln home football game. They recently signed the national anthem at the start of the Canal Days parade when the colors were presented by the American Legion Post 169.

The Lincoln coaching staff includes head coach Jacalynn Stapleton, assistant coach Heather Brower and volunteer coach Sharon Baker.
