Indiana Black Legislative Caucus is offering its first town hall discussion in Richmond and welcomes community participation.

The gathering will take place from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, in Room 105 of Earlham College’s Landrum Bolling Center, 801 National Road W., Richmond. It’s free and open to the public.

Hoosiers can share their concerns directly with the 15-member caucus, who will discuss legislation from the 2026 session and potential 2027 bills, such as the state’s next two-year budget. They’ll also take questions from guests.

Richmond High School graduate Nathan Hogg, who currently attends Indiana University East, interned for the caucus earlier this year. Hogg will serve as the event’s moderator.

The Richmond stop is one of eight town halls taking place across the state through September. Upcoming sessions are in Fort Wayne, Evansville, Terre Haute, South Bend and Hammond.

IBLC’s mission statement features five goals related to social and economic initiatives. They include greater economic, educational and social opportunities for all Hoosiers; improved educational efforts to close the achievement gap that threatens to reduce opportunities for minority students at all grade levels; enhanced public policies to reduce crime and gun and domestic violence; addressing basic needs such as housing, utilities, clothing and food; and access to adequate healthcare to increase better health outcomes and decrease health disparities.

Statewide sponsors of the town hall series include Indiana Landmarks, NAACP Indiana State Conference, Indiana Black Expo and Indiana Minority Health Coalition.
