A mural honoring inventor Ralph Teetor won a Fort Wayne artist top prize in the Wayne County Murals Program’s competition, according to a news release.
Chris Catalogna won $10,000 for the mural on The Boot Box, 60 W. Main St., Hagerstown. Judges liked how the mural fit the long building and said “the depiction of the historical figure was executed with strong perspective.”
Anthony Brooks of Chicago and Berlin, Germany, received second place, and $5,000, for his depiction of two dancers moving across the Dance Techniques building at 1014 E. Main St., Richmond. The mural impressed judges “with its strong use of color and dynamic nature, communicating an energetic and youthful style.”
Megan Oldhues of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, claimed the $2,500 third-place prize with her mural of a woman and dog on a couch with the dog’s head in the woman’s lap. The judges said the mural at 199 Fort Wayne Ave., Richmond, is “a beautifully executed piece that showcased exceptional skill.”
