Alumni and friends of three Wayne County colleges and universities have been invited to wear spirit gear, share memories, reconnect with friends and consider donating toward fundraising campaigns on special days and beyond.
Ivy Tech
Supporters of Ivy Tech Community College Richmond are encouraged to wear green on Tuesday, April 21, which is the fourth annual Ivy Tech Day.
The event directly supports the greatest needs at each campus and resources that support student success.
Several initiatives are planned, with one in advance of the big day. From 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, Hot Head Burritos at 1006 Chester Blvd. is donating a portion of proceeds when a flyer is shown.
On April 21, the Cordial Cork at 911 N. E St. will donate a portion of sales.
On the campus at 2357 Chester Blvd., T-shirts and gifts from Chick-fil-A, Primex Plastics and Dairy Queen will be distributed while supplies last.
During the previous three events, Richmond raised more than $70,000 for student scholarships, innovative programs and unique educational opportunities.
Last year, Richmond’s campus received 227 donations.
According to a news release, Ivy Tech contributes nearly $4 billion annually to Indiana’s economy, including $68.2 million in communities served by Richmond’s campus.
More than 80% of Ivy Tech grads stay in Indiana and 87% carry no debt when they leave Ivy Tech. The college offers more than 70 programs aligned to Indiana’s economic and workforce needs, the release said.
“Ivy Tech Day is a big moment each year for everyone associated with our campus,” said Brandi Jackson, Ivy Tech Richmond’s vice chancellor of workforce and development. “Our community is committed to coming together to support our students, celebrate our alumni, and enhance our impact in Fayette, Randolph, Rush, Union, and Wayne counties.”

Gifts may be made to the Marilyn Watkins Red Wolf Student Support Fund, which helps students facing unforeseen financial hardships that could prevent them from graduating, or the IU East Food Pantry.
IUE offers a general scholarship endowment and several campus or donor-initiated scholarships for students interested in various majors, community service or internships.
More specific funds support academic departments, campus beautification, labs, student travel, campus activities and the library.
Donations may be made at give.myiu.org or delivered or mailed to 2325 Chester Blvd., Richmond, IN 47374.
