Hoosiers 60 and older are now eligible to receive the #COVID19 vaccine.
The announcement was made shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23.
Those eligible can register at ourshot.in.gov or call a local phone number.
State health officials urge vaccination seekers to be patient as wait times might be longer than usual.
Reid Health operates a regional vaccination center at Kuhlman Center on the Wayne County Fairgrounds. It has appointments at Kuhlman Center between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Because it receives vaccines for four counties and receives the Pfizer vaccine that requires ultra-cold storage, Reid has been receiving more doses than Wayne County Health Department, which can store the Moderna vaccine.
Residents of Wayne, Fayette, Union and Randolph counties can make an appointment for Kuhlman Center by calling a Reid phone number, 765-935-8484, between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Volunteers also are helping answer phones at the county health department and can schedule a vaccine at either the Wayne County Health Department site at the former Elder-Beerman store, or at Reid’s Kuhlman Center site. They can be reached at 765-973-9245.
Unfortunately, the state’s 211 helpline operators do not have accurate information about the Reid vaccination site, so those calling that number specifically need to ask for the Reid site at Kuhlman Center if they choose to get their vaccinations there.
Walk-ins will not be able to be accommodated for vaccinations while supplies are very limited.
