Back by popular demand, an iceless skating rink will be set up for free use this weekend in Cambridge City.

The attraction returns with traditional favorites during the annual Winter Wonderland celebration.

Area residents are invited to browse the festive downtown shops, eateries, vendors, food and special events between 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, along and near U.S. 40.

Admission and many activities are free, but those attending are encouraged to bring cash for a few activities.

Cambridge City Area Chamber of Commerce organizes the luminaria-filled wonderland with help from organizations including Cambridge City Main Street, churches and businesses.

Cambridge City Main Street is coordinating the 5:30 p.m. parade, which will include Santa’s arrival. For more information on that event, call 317-442-0409.

Skating on the synthetic ice will take place at Cambridge City Christian Church’s parking lot, accessible from the 100 block of South Foote Street.

One-night activities include s’mores bars and kids’ crafts throughout the downtown area.

A couple of blocks north of U.S. 40, Zion’s Lutheran Church coordinates a 25-cent sale of donated items from 6-9 that night at the fire station, 127 W. Maple St., Cambridge City, to help children shop for their families and friends. Gift wrapping is available.

Lincoln Golden Eagle Industries Inc. is selling wooden logo ornaments and trees that Lincoln Middle/High School students made from their school’s previous gym floor. Ornaments are $10 each and trees are $20. They can be purchased at The Archive, 33 W. Main St., from 5-7 p.m. that night, along with fudge, spiced hot apple cider and apparel. LGEI’s trees and ornaments also will be available at the high school, 205 E. Parkway Drive, during student hours, or at select basketball games while supplies last.

Carriage rides to view Christmas lights at Creitz Park are another traditional activity. Cambridge City Volunteer Fire Department installs the plentiful elaborate colorful scenes that can be viewed from 6-9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Christmas and nightly through New Year’s. A $5 contribution is encouraged per vehicle to see the lights.
