When a professor finds a long-lost manuscript that would bring worldwide fame and then loses it, she calls on the ancient Greek gods of comedy to get her out of the mess.

For young professor Daphne Rain, the first surprise is that the gods show up. The second surprise is that any two people — even if they are gods — can wreak so much havoc on one university.

The Ivy League will never be the same as a pair of screwball deities encounter the carnal complexity of college coeds, campus capers and conspicuous consumption.

Richmond Civic Theatre is offering six performances of the two-hour “The Gods of Comedy” starting Jan. 18.

The madcap comedy is rated PG-13, and RCT staff advise parental discretion for children younger than 14.

Brady Day, who graduated from Centerville Senior High School in 2018 and then majored in musical theater at Anderson University, is serving as director.

He is a music teacher at Northeastern Elementary in addition to being an actor, songwriter and playwright/screenwriter.

Several members of Day’s family, including his wife Emma, parents Hollie and Mike Day, and sister Madison Dishmond, are serving in roles such as light board operator, assistant director, deck crew and stage manager. The Days have been involved at RCT in various off- and onstage roles through the years.
