“Rumors” have it that Cambridge City’s Second Saturday is gearing to be one for the ages, offering a full day of activities supporting local businesses. As day turns to dusk, the musical stylings of Back 2 Mac, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, will headline a free concert on Aug. 8, 6-9 p.m., at Creitz Park Pavilion located behind the Cambridge City Fire Department,127 W. Maple St.
Since 2010, Back 2 Mac has entertained fans across 12 major cities and 20 secondary markets with over 20 hits from the Grammy-winning American/British band. Per their website, Back 2 Mac consists of vocalist Kimmet Cantwell, keyboardist/guitarist Lauren Balthrop, drummer/vocalist Ray Rizzo, guitarist/vocalist James Mitchell, bassist/vocalist Tim Halcomb and keyboard/vocalist Bob Ramsey.
Sponsored by American Legion Post 169 and Western Wayne Alliance, the concert also features opening artist AJ Wetzel, local food vendors, and drinks for guests 21 years and older.
Western Wayne Alliance is a joint effort between Cambridge City Main Street and Cambridge City Area Chamber of Commerce. Main Street President Troy Lewis said the two entities will soon operate as one.
The Back 2 Mac concert is one of many planned this year, following June’s KISS tribute band. While concerts aren’t new to the area, Lewis said the Creitz Park Pavilion addition accommodates more people at a better facility.
Before the concert, Pilgrimage Wine Company celebrates two years with an album release and music festival. Beginning at 2:30 p.m., artists featured on “Treaty Line Records Sampler Vol. 1” will perform at the 2527 Treaty Line Road winery.
During the day, residents can support an extended Cambridge City Farmers Market or participate in the Great Treasure Hunt throughout Main Street businesses. Beginning at 9 a.m., the town-wide event spurs participants to find 50 tokens hidden in various businesses for prizes. Entrants then enter a chance for the grand treasure, a $50 National Road Antique Mall shopping spree.
