Fountain City is joining some Wayne County communities in honoring its active military and veterans with banners but will go a step further in saluting first responders.
Fountain City Forward, a nonprofit organization, has begun a Hometown Heroes Banner Program. Submissions of information, pictures and payments for the $75 banners are due March 31.
Living, deceased, KIA, POW/MIA or active duty military from any branch, including reserves, are eligible for banners, as well as first responders such as law enforcement, firefighters and EMTs.
Banners feature the honoree’s name, rank/office, branch or area of service, years served, a high-quality picture and a QR code linking viewers to a webpage with further information.
Applications are available at fountaincityforward.org or at Martin’s Country Mart, 203 U.S. 27.
Forms and payments can be submitted online or mailed to Fountain City Forward at 989 W. Fountain City Pike, Fountain City, IN 47341.
Banners will be displayed throughout town from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.
