Inspectors discovered six critical and eight noncritical violations during recent routine inspections of local food establishments.

The violations include unsanitary employee practices, dirty equipment and improper food temperatures.

Establishments are required to post the most recent routine inspection form adjacent to the front public entrance for potential customers to view.

Wayne County Health Department employees collected these concerns between Feb. 1-11.  

Critical violations

  • Feb. 10: Domino’s Pizza East, 3671 E. Main St., Richmond. One critical: Entire pizza line temperature measured at 50 degrees Fahrenheit, not 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below. To be corrected that day. One noncritical: No paper towels in dispenser at two-bay sink near hand sink. To be corrected that day. 
  • Feb. 7: Richmond50 Inc., 502 S. Fifth St., Richmond. Three critical: Soda nozzles in need of cleaning. To be corrected that day. Employee making pizza did not wash hands. To be corrected that day. No hot water at three-bay sink. To be corrected that day. Two noncritical: Plumbing leak in restroom hand sink. To be corrected Feb. 17. Previous inspection form not posted. To be corrected that day. 
  • Feb. 3: The Inn Zone, 1001 N. E St., Richmond. One critical: Must provide documentation for Certified Food Manager certificate or schedule test by March 7. If documentation is not provided by March 7, food permit revocation process will begin.  
  • Feb. 3: Village Mart, 500 W. Main St., Richmond. One critical: Hand sink inaccessible – several large boxes, moped observed in front of the hand sink. To be corrected by Feb. 4.

Noncritical violations

  • Feb. 11: Domino’s Pizza West, 401 National Road W., Richmond. Two noncritical: Beard restraint not worn while preparing food or washing utensils. To be corrected that day. At the carryout door, one-inch wide holes open to the outside. To be corrected by Feb. 12.
  • Feb. 4: 1201 Smart, 1201 N. E St., Richmond. Two noncritical: Gap at bottom of exterior door. To be corrected by Feb. 18. Mold-like substance on ledge of ice bin lid. To be corrected that day. 
  • Feb. 1: VS Concessions, 227 Mount Vernon Dr., Georgetown, KY. One noncritical: No hair restraint worn by employee preparing food. To be corrected that day.

  • Apple Dough LLC dba Little Caesar’s, 1503 E. Main St., Richmond. Two items corrected. 
  • Village Mart, 500 W. Main St., Richmond. Item corrected.

  • Richmond: Sweet P’z, 100 N. Ninth St. OK to open.

Inspections

Wayne County Health Department inspects local stores, restaurants, schools and other food providers at least twice per year. If any critical violations are found, inspectors follow up to ensure the establishment has made the necessary corrections. They also make visits if members of the public submit complaints.
