Flood survivors can pursue new funding

Two fundraisers are planned in Cambridge City this weekend to help flood survivors, and individuals can apply for some new types of funding.

Donation opportunities

• Cambridge City Public Library is hosting a bluegrass concert from 6-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25. Donations will go to Wayne County Foundation’s Wayne County Cares fund. Scheduled performers include Rachel, Clayton and John Appleby, and Trevor Snavely at 600 W. Main St.
• Comedian Pat Godwin, who’s been seen and heard on “The Bob and Tom Show,” will be the headliner for the “Flooded with Laughter” benefit on Saturday, Sept. 26.

The performance will be at Creitz Park Pavilion behind the fire station, 127 W. Maple St. Live music kicks off the fundraiser from 6-7 p.m., followed by opening comedian Austin Fry. Food and beverages will be for sale.

• As of press time, Wayne County Foundation sought nearly $10,000 to complete a 1:1 match of $25,000 for its Wayne County Cares Fund. Jefferson and Mary Shreve offered the $25,000 match. Donations can be made at loom.ly/pT7j7pQ, in person at WCF’s office, 33 S. Seventh St., Richmond, or by mail. Gifts can be designated for individual communities.

Aid programs

Here are a few updates and reminders of ongoing opportunities to seek financial assistance.

• Cambridge City Christian Church has begun accepting applications from western Wayne County residents for its Flood Relief Fund. More details are available via video at youtu.be/xgu3wfKMRIc. Church membership or participation isn’t a factor in the decision process. As of Sept. 21, new hours to receive supplies and advice from volunteers are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays at 106 W. Church St., Cambridge City. Appointments can be made at other times by calling 765-478-5123.
• Richmond Association of Realtors has announced that flood survivors in Wayne and Randolph counties can apply for up to $1,000 per household through the Realtors Relief Foundation.

Assistance is available for mortgage payments, rental costs or hotel expenses. The application deadline is Nov. 11, but the limited funds are distributed first-come, first-served.

• Wayne County’s township trustees are distributing flood aid from Wayne County Foundation’s Wayne County Cares program. • Indiana’s State Disaster Relief Fund applications are available at on.in.gov/August2026Disaster. For help applying for Federal Emergency Management Agency aid, call 800-621-3362 or visit disasterassistance.gov.
• Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority is offering housing vouchers through 211, but some vouchers will expire soon. Hoosiers needing temporary housing can visit IN211.communityos.org or call 211 at 866-211-9966.
• Natco Credit Union’s disaster relief program applications for its eligible members are due Friday, Sept. 25. They’re available at natcocu.org/disaster-relief-program/. Receipts for related expenses are needed. Call 765-962-2561 for more information.
