Three local Future Farmers of America chapters are inviting local farmers and anyone working in the agriculture industry to a free breakfast on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Wayne County Fairgrounds, 861 N. Salisbury Road, Richmond.
“It is a way for our members to thank our farmers and local agribusinesses and celebrate National FFA Week,” said Kaitlyn Lacey, FFA adviser and ag teacher at Lincoln Middle/High School in Cambridge City. The breakfast is cosponsored by FFA chapters at Hagerstown and Northeastern high schools.
The meal starts at 8:30 a.m. Catered by Lumpy’s restaurant, it will include biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs, fruit and donuts. Farm Credit of Mid-America sponsors tableware.
A former FFA national officer will be the guest speaker.
Reservations should be made by Feb. 10 by contacting Lacey at klacey@wwayne.k12.in.us or 765-478-5916 ext. 327 or to Christy Herr, Hagerstown FFA adviser, cherr@nettlecreek.k12.in.us or 765-489-4511 ext. 407.
The Farmers Breakfast has not been offered since 2019 because of the coronavirus. The Lincoln FFA chapter sponsored a Farmers Breakfast for several years. It was expanded to be a countywide event in 2019, with addition of the Hagerstown and Northeastern chapters.
