Wayne County Election Board soon will conduct a hearing about a candidate’s eligibility for the May primary ballot.

The hearing regarding Tracey Jellison’s bid to represent District 2 as a Wayne County commissioner will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26. It takes place in the county annex’s commissioners/council chambers, 401 E. Main St., Richmond, and is open to the public.

J. Clayton Miller has resigned as the Republican member of the three-member election board because he’s running for judge of Wayne Superior Court 1.

Republican Party Chairman Gary Saunders has appointed Peter Zaleski to replace Miller on the election board.

Maggie Thomas represents the county’s Democrats. Wayne County Clerk Debbie Berry, a Republican, can break a tie if needed.
