For 11 years, the Dot Foods distribution center in Cambridge City has provided in-house health care to its employees and their families. This year, the company broke ground on a new on-site facility to expand this benefit.

The company celebrated the opening of the new Dot Family Health Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Dec. 10 in front of the 1,700-square-foot building. Nestled on the property at 14600 Gateway Road, the new office will replace the former medical facility located on Indiana 1 behind the Speedway.

Cambridge City was the second Dot distribution center in the country with a health center in 2013. All 13 U.S. locations now have one.

Dot Foods Indiana General Manager Rick Popp and VP of Human Resources Mandi Clark spoke at the event. Popp thanked the many hands who made this achievement possible, including Dot’s medical partner, Marathon Health. Popp also acknowledged the facility’s providers, nurse practitioner Amber Butcher, and medical assistant Shelby Jones. Most importantly, he thanked the employees who made it possible.

“Our employees are the heart of our operation, and this health center supports their well-being,” said Popp. “By relocating our Family Health Center on site, we’re making it easier for employees and their families to maintain routine health needs and get timely support when someone isn’t feeling well.”

“Our culture centers on supporting employees and their families,”**** said Clark. “Over the last 11 years, we’ve seen the positive impact the Family Health Center has on our Cambridge City team. We’re really excited about this next chapter, because we believe relocating the family health center just steps away from our distribution center makes it an even more valuable resource.”

The Dot Family Health Center provides convenient care for anyone covered by a Dot health plan. For little to no cost, services include primary and preventive care for ongoing conditions, immediate and sick care, and occupational health services. Prices are inexpensive compared to other standard costs and can be covered by an employee’s Health Savings Account.

Family-owned and operated since 1960, Clark highlighted how Dot views its workforce as family and makes a “significant investment” in the well-being of its employees.

“Family, at the end of the day, take care of each other,” Clark said.

The new facility serves 500-plus people, including employees and their dependents. Employees will also receive a wellness incentive by scheduling an annual physical. This replaces the prior requirement for biometric screenings.
