In this season of cheerful tulips and viburnum, man-eating plants are making a bold splash at Richmond Civic Theatre.
“Little Shop of Horrors,” which combines music, comedy and horror, will be performed on two weekends. It’s the final show of RCT’s 2024-2025 season.
Shows are at 7:30 p.m. from Thursday, May 8, through Saturday, May 10, and May 15-17. Matinees are planned at 2 p.m. Sundays (May 11 and 18).
Starting weekends on a positive note, RCT is discounting both Thursday nights.
On preview night, May 8, all tickets are $10 or $15. On May 15, all seats are buy one, get one free.
In advance, tickets are normally $20 each for adults and $17 for students and seniors 65-plus. On show day, those prices increase $2 and $1, respectively.
“Little Shop” shows the life of meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, who stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” after his coworker crush.
The foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Seymour, as long as he keeps feeding it blood.
Over time, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out-of-this-world origins and intent towards global domination.
Skylight Music Theatre designed and created the man-eating plants being used in the show with support from Rockwell Automation.
