Indiana State Police has begun investigating the discovery of a dead man with a gunshot wound in a Connersville cemetery.
According to a news release from Sgt. Clint Brown, Connersville Police Department’s public information officer, CPD officers responded just after 7 a.m. Aug. 17 to a report of an unconscious male in Dale Cemetery.
They found a deceased male with a gunshot wound to the head/neck, Brown said.
After speaking with Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office, CPD officials decided to ask Indiana State Police to conduct the investigation.
Dale Cemetery, at 801 N. Gregg Road, is a few blocks west of downtown Connersville and a few blocks east of Willowbrook Country Club.
It is north of Indiana 44 and locations such as Connersville Senior High School and Whitewater Career Center.
Brown said the investigation is continuing and any further updates will come from ISP, such as the name of the victim.
