The 2A fifth-ranked Centerville Bulldogs, fresh off the Wayne County championship, made the long trip to St. Leon on Wednesday, Jan. 14, for a game with 4A East Central.
The Trojans used the three-point shot to battle the favored Bulldogs to the final second before losing 46-44. The Trojans, members of the Eastern Indiana Conference, led 21-17 at halftime. The Trojans pushed their advantage to 32-22 three minutes into the third quarter before the Bulldogs went on a 14-0 run to take a 38-34 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Trojans tied the score at 44-44 with 2:20 remaining in the game and the Bulldogs held the ball for a final shot. Shea Hollendonner was fouled on a drive to the basket with 6.4 seconds remaining and hit both free throws to give Centerville a 46-44 lead. The final shot at the buzzer for East Central did not fall, and the Bulldogs hung on for the win.

Hollendonner led the Bulldogs and all game scorers with 22 points. Landyn Keiser added 17 points.
As a team, the Trojans hit 10 three-point shots. Liam Rogers led the Trojans with 17 points, Aiden Hallahan scored 15 points and Cole Reynolds scored 10 points.
