Wayne County is joining the national Wreaths Across America Day, with plans to lay 500 wreaths on the graves of military veterans.
A brief ceremony is currently scheduled at noon Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Veterans’ Field of Honor at Earlham Cemetery, 1101 W. National Road, Richmond, before the wreaths are placed on headstones. The time is subject to change based on funeral schedules.
The effort is coordinated by the Richmond chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, which raised funds from the Wayne County Foundation, Vietnam Veterans Association and Hill’s Pet Nutrition.
DAR invites area residents to attend the ceremony and place wreaths if able. Those attending are to park on the grassy field across from the Field of Honor.
