Indiana Department of Health has set up a vaccination clinic at Ivy Tech Richmond.
It will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, through Saturday, June 19, at 2357 Chester Blvd.
Walk-ins are welcome. If you’d like to save time and make an appointment, it’s easy to get one. Appointments can be scheduled online anytime at ourshot.in.gov on your computer or smartphone (use Chrome or Firefox as your browser). Enter the registration page and search by the 47374 ZIP code. If you do not have a computer or smartphone, you can ask a family or friend to help, or call 211 and a representative will schedule an appointment for you from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT daily.
An adult must accompany children age 12-15 to the vaccine appointment. If the adult present is not the parent or guardian, consent must be submitted in advance. For anyone age 16-17 it’s preferred that a parent or guardian accompany the minor to the vaccination site, but the parent or guardian can provide written or verbal authorization.
If you are 18 or older, you may choose to receive either the single-dose Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) or Pfizer vaccine, which requires a second dose to be fully protected.
IU Health offers free rides to any vaccine site in the state. If you need transportation to your vaccine appointment anywhere in the state, call 1-888-IUHEALTH (1-888-484-3258) and choose option 9.
Patients with an appointment at a state-hosted public vaccination site can get a free UBER ride. Call 2-1-1 or (866) 211-9966 to receive a voucher to cover the cost of an Uber ride to and from your vaccination appointments.
Cambridge City, Connersville testing sites to close June 30
The OptumServe COVID-19 testing sites in Indiana, including those in Cambridge City and Connersville, will close at the end of June.
Indiana Department of Health said it’s ending its contract with the company because of a “robust community-led testing network” now in place.
County health departments, CVS/pharmacy, Reid Health, and Henry Community Health and other medical offices will continue to offer tests.
Henry Community Health wrapping up shots on main campus
Henry Community Health in New Castle will move its COVID-19 vaccine administration to another location starting Tuesday, July 6.
HCH is currently operating a walk-in vaccine clinic on its main campus, 1000 N. 16th St. More information is available at 765-521-0890.
After July 2, it will move vaccination administration to its Immediate Care at New Castle Family & Internal Medicine Northfield Park, 152 Wittenbraker Ave., New Castle.
Patients needing a COVID-19 vaccination after July 6 can walk-in or schedule their vaccination by calling Immediate Care at 765-599-3100.
“Since January 11, we have administered more than 11,000 doses of the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines,” said Dr. Arun Tewari, chief medical officer, in a news release. “As the number of vaccination sites and availability expanded statewide, we saw a drop in demand, which made the need for a stand-alone clinic unnecessary.”
The Pfizer vaccine will be the only vaccine available through the HCH office.
Tewari was quick to point out that vaccination is still the safest way to keep from getting seriously ill and help prevent the spread of the infection. “We’re all anxious to get back to our normal lives,” said Tewari, “and vaccination is the quickest way to ensure that happens quickly.”
Reid offering vaccine at urgent cares
Reid Health’s vaccine clinic at Kuhlman Center has shut down while Wayne County 4-H is taking place, but it will reopen Thursday, July 8.
Hours at that time will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday and Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Friday.
“Our vaccination team has worked incredibly hard since mid-December, and this pause will give them a much-deserved break,” said Dr. Thomas Huth, vice president of medical affairs, in a news release. “Although the clinic will reopen in a few weeks, we hope those who haven’t been vaccinated yet won’t wait that long to get their shot.”
Scheduled and walk-in vaccinations still will be available at other Reid locations.
Free vaccinations at the Richmond (1501 Chester Blvd.) and Connersville (1475 E. Indiana 44) Urgent Cares are available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Sunday.
The Ready Care Clinic at Meijer is open for shots 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
No office fee or copay is charged for vaccination-only visits at any Reid locations.
