Hagerstown council had two special guests at its brief Sept. 14 budget hearing. Scouting America Troop 16’s Andrew Laster and Isaac Laster attended the special meeting to earn their “Citizenship in the Community” merit badges.
With no public commentary, President Allan Bullock closed the hearing and the council proceeded to review wastewater plant reconstruction bids. The plant’s lab and garage were damaged in the Aug. 12 flood.
Three bids were reviewed with council approving Complete Home Construction’s bid at $50,750. The other bids were from Remodeling Services LLC ($35,750) and Pridemark ($59,295). Town Manager Chris LaMar said work could begin once the agreement was signed.
The meeting closed with council approving funds for a Community Crossings grant. At an 80/20 match, the town will contribute $158,243.36 for repaving and curb work to be done next spring.
The next council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m., 49 E. College St. The public may attend.
