Performers from Wayne, Randolph and Henry counties spent hours on Valentine’s Day sharing their love of color guard with audiences in Indiana and Ohio.
Some participate through an Indiana organization, while others compete through an Ohio group.
IHSCGA performers
Centerville, Hagerstown, New Castle and Connersville competed Saturday, Feb. 14, at Zionsville, through Indiana High School Color Guard Association.
Hagerstown earned gold in Festival Class.
Centerville finished second in Regional A Class Round 1 behind Warren Central JV. Other schools in that round were Tri-West, Carmel, Greenwood, Mater Dei, Knox, Bloomington South and Brown County.
New Castle earned eighth and Connersville ended 10th in their Regional A Class rounds.
Tri also competed that day in Waterloo and finished 10th in its Regional A Class round.
Hagerstown and New Castle will compete Saturday, Feb. 21, at Greenwood. Tri and Connersville will perform that day in Brownsburg.

MEPA contests
Northeastern High School’s Damsels winter guard competed Saturday, Feb. 14, at Kettering Fairmont. Northeastern is part of the Mid East Performance Association.
The Damsels finished fourth of 12 schools in Scholastic Regional A behind Versailles (Ohio), nearby Winchester Community and Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio) JV.
The Damsels’ next contest will be March 1 at Springboro (Ohio).
Randolph Southern Indoor Percussion competed Feb. 7 at Bellbrook. The Lynn band members were the only school in the Percussion Scholastic Concert A division at that contest. They finished first of two schools on Feb. 14 at Kettering.
Winchester’s winter guard finished first of 11 schools in Scholastic Regional A on Feb. 7.

IPA
Hagerstown Indoor Percussion will begin competing in the Indiana Percussion Association series of contests on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Pendleton Heights.
New Castle Open competed in IPA’s season-opening contest Feb. 7 in Brazil, finishing second to Pendleton Heights in the Percussion Scholastic Concert Open category. They competed Feb. 14 at Noblesville, finishing fifth in Percussion Scholastic Concert Open behind Munster, Castle, Ben Davis and F.J. Reitz.
Henry County Crimson Percussion also competed at Noblesville, finishing first in Percussion Independent A. They scored one-tenth of a point higher than Southmont.
