Mari Lynn Taube of rural Greens Fork became the Clay Township trustee in January. She replaces Rebecca Cool, who moved out of the township.

Taube is moving the township office into her home at 10029 Swoveland Road, west of the town of Greens Fork. The office will be open by appointment, she said. To make an appointment, call 765-407-8727. She also can be contacted by email, clay_wayne_in@yahoo.com, or by mail at Clay Township, PO Box 173, Greens Fork IN 47345-0173.

Clay Township includes an area around Greens Fork in west central Wayne County. Among the trustee’s duties are providing township assistance, fire protection and maintaining pioneer cemeteries. Township finances are overseen by a township advisory board. In Clay Township, the three board members are Jan Riggleman, Louie Artman Jr. and Cheryl Heacox.

The new trustee is retired from 40 years of teaching special education. She still works part time in the New Castle school system. She has no previous experience as a government official and is learning the trustee’s job.
