Exciting is how Kim Shipley, Civic Hall performing arts manager, describes the upcoming 2026-27 season. The performing arts center at 380 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond, kicks off its 33rd season next month with a variety of energetic acts.
“All these artists are high-energy,” said Shipley, who has served in the role for a year. She’s been a part of the Civic Hall family for nine years as director for the Richmond High School’s Devilettes. “I want the audience to be up on their feet and dancing. I want to bring that life back to Civic Hall.”
There’s fun for each generation to enjoy, starting with “Resurrection: A Journey Tribute” on Saturday, Oct. 3. Described as the “gold standard” of Journey tribute bands, the concert recreates the magic of the 1980s musical act known for hits like “Open Arms” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Then on Saturday, Nov. 7, Chicago’s Pack Drumline will bring its high-energy, infectious showmanship to the Civic Hall stage. The percussionists were finalists on NBC’s “American’s Got Talent” and performed at Super Bowl LVIII.
Transitioning to 2027, fans can “Shake It Off” on Saturday, March 6, to “Taylor’s Story: A Tribute to Taylor Swift.” The act is a musical narration of Swift’s greatest hits, from the humble country twang of “You Belong With Me” to pop-charters like “Bad Blood” and “Look What You Made Me Do.” The season concludes with “Abbamania” on Saturday, May 1. Disco enthusiasts can revisit those days with tunes like “Dancing Queen” and “Waterloo.”
