Stage One Youth Theatre will present the timeless story of friendship between Wilbur the pig and Charlotte the spider for one weekend.
Performances of “Charlotte’s Web” begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 8, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Richmond Civic Theatre, 1003 E. Main St., Richmond.
Students will present the G-rated adaptation of E.B. White’s book that also includes characters such as Fern, a young girl who understands what animals say to each other, and Templeton, the gluttonous rat who sometimes can be persuaded into doing a good deed.
The Children’s Literature Association named “Charlotte’s Web” “the best American children’s book of the past 200 years.”
About 25 young singers in the Community Choristers will sing songs about animals and animal welfare before the play. The singers are led by Alisa Clapp-Itnyre, who also directs “Charlotte’s Web.”
The choristers will give one more performance of those songs at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in Wayne County Historical Museum, 1150 N. A St., Richmond. The museum performance is free and open to the public.
Advance tickets are $13 for adults and $9 for students and seniors 65-plus. They are $2/$1 more on show days.
