Centerville Farmers Market is offering a chance for prospective voters to interact with candidates for township, county and state elected offices.
The market’s Local Politics Day is planned Saturday, July 18, during its regular weekly hours of 4-7 p.m. Vendors sell their wares at the intersection of North Morton Avenue and Crown Creek Boulevard near Maplewood Park.
As of press time, organizers had received commitments from about 10 Republican and Democrat candidates or their teams.
The offices to be represented include Indiana’s secretary of state and treasurer, Center Township trustee, Wayne County Council, Indiana House of Representatives District 56 and Indiana Senate District 27. Not all candidates for each office will be present.
Residents are encouraged to interact with the candidates at their booths. Candidates also will speak for a few minutes at the amphitheater.
The market offers produce, baked goods, eggs and other items. Through a partnership of Reid Health and Main Street Centerville, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program dollars are doubled. Participants who use their electronic benefits transfer cards at the market can reduce their eligible food costs by half.
