A few cars bypassing construction barriers on Sim Hodgin Parkway led Richmond Board of Works to approve a continued road closure at its Oct. 15 meeting. Administrative Resource Officer Aaron Stevens reiterated the project should be done in December. The board also approved four new handicap parking sign requests at 211 N. 21st, 2220 Grand Blvd, 922 Boyer and 259 SW Second streets.

The board approved four contracts. The first for Oler’s Fencing and Construction ($3,900.00) to install a gate and two gate posts at the Izzy David Edelman Fire and Police Training Facility; the second ($42,500.00) to demolish Mechanic’s Laundry at 1002 N. E St; the third with Milestone ($311,886.00) to conduct repair of Parkway Lane; and the fourth with Lexipol ($4,188.00) for Richmond Police Department training.

Richmond Board of Works and Public Safety meets every Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 50 N. Fifth St.
