The pianist/lead vocalist that Billy Joel hand-picked for his Broadway musical is part of Civic Hall Performing Arts Center’s 2024-25 season of nationally touring shows.

The series kicks off in October with Voctave, an a cappella ensemble with more than 150 million video views on social media.

Season tickets are now available that include all five Proudly Presenting series shows.

One change for audiences is that all Proudly Presenting series shows will start at 7 p.m.

  • Oct. 5: Voctave has had multiple No. 1 songs and albums on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify. According to its website, the a cappella group’s concert celebrating the release of its new album, “The Corner of Broadway & Main Street, Vol. 3,” will be followed by its Richmond performance.
Voctave’s 11 singers have roots in contemporary Christian, theater, pop, barbershop and choral music. Several have performed in the Voices of Liberty at Disney World. Voctave has sung with Grammy, Dove and American Music Award recipients including Sandi Patty and Pentatonix’s Kirstin Maldonado.
  • Nov. 2: 7 Bridges: The Ultimate Eagles Experience describes itself as “a stunningly accurate” tribute to the music of the Eagles. The group uses no backing tracks or harmonizers while recreating concerts from the band’s most prolific period. 7 Bridges provides an all ages, family friendly show woven into a rock ‘n’ roll concert experience.
  • Dec. 20: Doktor Kaboom and “The Science of Santa” features David Epley, who writes, performs and directs original interactive comedy. Epley believes science and magic are the same thing, so Santa Claus must be the greatest scientist alive. Science comedian Doktor Kaboom struggles valiantly to solve the magical mysteries of the man in red and learn the secrets behind making reindeer fly, getting down tight chimneys and knowing who’s been bad or good.
  • March 1: New York City-based Uptown combines smooth stylings of rhythm and blues with contemporary hits. The men say they offer Bruno Mars-caliber stage presence with vocals reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye.
  • May 3: Michael Cavanaugh performs music of Billy Joel and Elton John. Joel himself picked Cavanaugh to star in his Broadway musical “Movin’ Out,” in which Cavanaugh performed piano and lead vocals. The show earned Grammy and Tony nominations. Since touring independently, Cavanaugh performs at venues such as PGA Tour events, the Super Bowl and the Indy 500.

In addition, two daytime shows are being offered to eastern Indiana and western Ohio schools and home-school families. “The Science of Santa” is planned Dec. 20 and “Professor Wow’s Outer Space Adventures” will be Feb. 12. Those tickets are $3.

Civic Hall Associates and Richmond Community Schools, which partner to offer the series, raise funds from national, state and regional arts organizations, local individuals, and businesses to keep ticket costs as low as possible.

Season tickets are $165 for adults, $160 for seniors 65-plus and $120 for students and active military. They can be purchased at 765-973-3350, www.civichall.com, or visiting the box office between 8:30 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. weekdays at 380 Hub Etchison Parkway, Richmond. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.
