Abington Township’s advisory board has a new member following a resignation.

Mary Ringley, who joined the board in 2024, ended her participation earlier this year. May 6 board meeting minutes listed the advisory board members as Trustee Steve Kaiser, President Doug Toschlog, Assistant Clerk Terry Craig and Board Member Theresa Clark.

Ringley did not file her resignation with the Wayne County Clerk’s Office until June 5, according to Wayne County Clerk Tara Pegg.

Indiana law requires political parties to fill vacancies by calling a caucus of eligible precinct representatives no later than 30 days after the vacancy occurs. If there are fewer than two eligible caucus voters, common in smaller townships, the party chair can fill the vacancy directly.

Pegg said Wayne County Republican Party Chair Beth Leisure appointed Tracy R. Snyder. Leisure told WWN that Snyder was sworn-in on Thursday, June 11.

WWN reported in April 2024 that Abington Township advisory board faced a public access complaint for an alleged violation of the state’s open door law for government meetings. The complainant was dismissed from the Abington Township Volunteer Fire Department earlier that year, and has since filed a federal lawsuit about the dismissal. The case is pending.
