Shirley Ann Shoopman, age 72, of New Castle passed from this life on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Henry Community Health in New Castle.
She was born on August 8, 1950 in Somerset, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Avolee Anderson and Faye Foster Sidwell.
Shirley was a graduate of New Castle Chrysler High. She spent years working alongside her husband in the insurance office. Shirley later worked until retirement for Duke Energy. She was a self-taught musician and could play any stringed instrument. She enjoyed sharing her gift of playing guitar and singing. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Amy (husband: Bruce) Glaser of New Castle, Thomas Shoopman of New Castle, Angela Boyer of Columbus Indiana and her loyal dog for many years, Wigo; grandchildren, Austin (wife: Hannah) Boyer of Westfield, Lauren Penrose of Bloomington, Maddy Glaser of Tallahassee, FL and a great-grandson, Weston Boyer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wayne Shoopman in 1995 and a special friend, Jake S. Padgett in 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition.
Friends may visit from 10 – 12 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
