Alma Olene Hammons, age 92, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Brickyard Healthcare – Richmond Care Center.
Born November 26, 1929, in Sylvatus, Virginia, to Emmett and Catha Dalton Frazier, Alma had lived in this area since about 1953. She graduated from Hall High School in Graves, Kentucky, and received her nursing degree from Indiana University East. Alma worked as an aide at Reid Hospital, and later as a nurse at the Richmond State Hospital and then at a VA Hospital in Texas. She enjoyed attending and teaching Bible study groups, attending church functions, and being a part of focus groups. Alma was a member of Living Faith Church of God.
Survivors include her son, Tom Hammons of Lothian, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Kathy Hammons of Richmond; four grandchildren, Bill Hammons Martin of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Kristy (Sonny) Hammons Morales of Crosby, Texas, Michelle Hammons of Texas, and Danielle (Tyler) Hammons Jones of Cape Coral, Florida; several great-grandchildren; extended family members, Michael John Miller and Lisa Miller of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth R. Hammons; brother, Woody Frazier; and extended family member, Karen Weaver.
