James George “Jim” Minderman, Jr. was born on June 10, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio to James, Sr. and Mary Minderman. He grew up in Loveland, Ohio and graduated from Madeira High School in 1962. After high school, Jim joined the United States Navy and served 23 years traveling the world. Jim was a Vietnam veteran and served during the Iran Hostage Crisis. He spent his career on several ships but his last tour of duty was on the USS Ainsworth, where he was a sonar technician. He later taught at the Fleet ASW training center before retiring as a SCPO in 1985 at the age of 40.

After retirement from the Navy, Jim moved his family to Richmond, Indiana where he lived at the time of his death on August 17, 2022. Jim worked in maintenance at several nursing homes in the area until his retirement.

Jim loved to bowl, work on cars, work in his yard, try out new restaurants, listen to music and watch war documentaries. He had a love for adventure and taking trips with family and friends. Jim was a natural story and joke teller. He could entertain people for hours and never tell the same joke twice.

Jim took on many roles in his 77 years on Earth. He was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, HERO and friend. Jim was a very kind, caring, loving man. He made a huge impact on everyone he met and the world was a better place because of him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, sister’s Marilyn Stenten and Ann Williford, both of Sarasota, FL and his first wife of 23 years, Sue.

James is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia Minderman of Richmond. Daughter’s, Tammi Minderman (Marcus) of Camden, IN. Brenda Powell of Richmond, IN. Reanna Capps-Minderman of Richmond, IN. Son, Ehan Powell-Minderman of Richmond, IN. Sister’s Jean Simon (Ted) and Eve Minderman both of Batavia, OH. He is also survived by Niece, Lisa Frye and Nephew, James Powell both of Richmond.

There will be no public service. A “Celebration of Life” is being planned for a date to be announced.
