Monte Joe Sanders, 88, of New Castle passed away Monday morning, August 22, 2022 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. He was born May 17, 1934 in Middletown, Indiana, a son of the late Marcel and Harriett (Richey) Sanders.
Monte was a 1952 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Defiance College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army then worked for American Natural Resources (ANR) Pipeline, retiring in 1986. Monte enjoyed woodworking and making wooden bowls that were sold all over the world. He was an avid New Castle Trojan basketball & football fan and had a passion for Genealogy.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jill Sanders; children, Troy (Noelle) Sanders and Timmie Jay Sanders; grandchildren, Colton and Lauren Sanders; several nieces and nephews; and many great neighbors & friends.
In addition to his parents, Monte was preceded in death by his siblings, James Sanders, Marcel “Bud” Sanders, Floyd Sanders, Barbara Fisher, William Sanders and Marjorie Kidd.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Dr. Barbara Anne Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
