Peter A. McDaniel, 57, of Richmond, Indiana passed away peacefully in the arms of his family to be with the Lord on August 16, 2022. He was born October 30, 1964 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Orville “Pete” McDaniel and Allien Hengstler McDaniel.
Pete served 4 years in the United States Marines Corps and 22 years with the Richmond Fire Department while serving as the Battalion Chief, Training Chief and Deputy Chief of Fire Prevention, he was on the Richmond Police Department and Richmond Fire Department Dive Team and RFD Honor Guard. After retirement Pete volunteered as a study buddy for Richmond Community Schools, a substitute teacher at Northeastern Schools, worked as the Work Crew Supervisor for Wayne County Community Corrections/Probation Department and was the Wayne County Veteran’s Service Officer. Pete loved working in his yard doing landscaping, exercising, remodeling houses, classic cars, the Dallas Cowboys and had a special love for his pet “Bentley”. Pete absolutely loved life, his community and was a life-long public servant.
He is survived by his wife Angela McDaniel; his children: Ashley McDaniel (Jake Varble) and Pete McDaniel (Tate Snodgrass); his granddaughter: Addison Varble; 3 brothers Jeff McDaniel (Cherry), Mike McDaniel (Cathy) and Danny McDaniel (Sylvia); aunts: Sheryl Hengstler, Ada (Danny) Fletcher, Marlene Berry, Faye Price, Merlien Farmer and Patty DeSonie; uncle: Earl Michael “Mike” McDaniel (Paula); mother and father-in-law: Jerry and Linda Peacock; sister-in-law: Sherrie Richey (Ken); brothers-in-law: Robert Peacock and Jerald Peacock (Vicki); special friends: Nick and Amy Hughes, Billy Pierson, Jon Duke, Tim Brown, Derek DeSonie, Dale Wise, his friends since 2nd grade Mike Ripperger, Jack Stottlemire and Ritchie Alley and all of his work friends in the Annex Building; he also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Orville “Pete” and Allien McDaniel.
Services for Pete will be Sunday August 21, 2022, 3pm at Community Family Funeral Home, where visitation will be held Sunday August 21, 2022 from 11am-3pm.
