David E. Walter, age 55, passed away at Reid Health on August 6, 2022.  He was born December 1, 1966, the son of Linda Thatcher and Gordon Walter, in Dayton, Ohio.

David was a resident of Richmond, Indiana; and attended Richmond Community Schools.  He was a cook at restaurants in Richmond and the Southern States.  His favorite food was fried chicken (legs and thighs) and cherry pie.  He loved to write poetry and enjoyed playing cards, dice, watching Pro Football and The First 48 Hours.  He would get a kick out of beating his mom in cards.  David had a good heart!  He would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it.  His favorite color was blue.

He leaves to cherish his memory; his mother and stepfather: Linda and Charles Thatcher; stepmother: Sandy Walter; one sister: Donna Wyatt; seven brothers: Gary Walter, Gary Warner, Gordon Walter, Jr., Timothy Walter, James Walter, Joseph Ellis and Robert Seaton; and a host of other relatives including nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; and cousins. He will also be missed by his cat, Little Bit.

He is preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents: Dorthea Marsh and Ralph Lantz; paternal grandparents: Kenneth and Marian Walter; aunts and uncles.
