Mr. Jack Evans of Richmond, Indiana died peacefully in the home of his family on July 1, 2022, in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania at the age of 86.
Jack is survived by children Jackie Evans (Debbie), Melanie, Joseph Evans, Errol A. Huffman Jr. (Elizabeth), Frances F. Mundhenk, brothers, Bill, Tim, Sam, Johnny, sister Helen, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Evans, his mother Ruby Evans, his wife Patsy, and seven siblings.
Jack was born on January 18, 1936, in Liberty, Indiana to Robert and Ruby. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1954. Jack married Patsy in 1974. Jack was a master of many trades, serving in the USMC beginning in 1955 when he won the USMC Golf Championship. Jack moved around the country working as a golf club professional from California to Florida and back to Indiana, playing with pros such as Chi Chi Rodriguez and teaching the likes of Jackie Gleason. Jack worked hard at many local manufacturing plants to provide for his family, eventually working for the City of Richmond until he retired in 2007.
Jack was a loving and doting husband to Patsy for 46 years. Jack was dedicated to his family, loved his grandchildren, enjoyed traveling the country with Patsy, liked watching sporting events, and fawned over his pet children: Bibi, Peanut, Pepper-Louise, Dolly, and Punkin’.
Private, family visitation is scheduled for July 12, 2022, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with an interment in Earlham Cemetery. Pastor Julie Mullins will officiate the ceremony.
