Marvin Dale Longenecker, age 84 of Richmond, Ind., passed away at Bradford Place on Friday, June 17, 2022. Marvin was born in New Paris, OH on May 12, 1938 to the late Howard and Osa B. (Smoot) Longenecker. Marvin was a proud graduate of Phillipsburg High School, class of 1956. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper before returning to Richmond. He worked for Wayne Works Corp., where he retired after over 30 years of service. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and fishing. After retirement, Marvin enjoyed golfing and even worked as a greenskeeper for one of the local golf courses, as well as spending time with friends and family. Marvin is survived by his daughters, Lori (Ernie) Hawkins and Amy (Dave) Kraushar; his grandchildren, Meghan, Mitchell, Emily, David, and Ethan; his brother, Howard “Shorty” (Jackie) Longenecker, the mother of his children, Barbara Hoppes; as well as many extended family members. Marvin was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Jean (Byron) Johnson and Patty (James) Heltsley; his brothers, Roland (Gloria) Longenecker and Wayne (Susan) Longenecker.
