Patti Baumer, 77, of Losantville, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on Sunday, May 22, at Reid Health, where she was lovingly cared for by the nurses and staff on 5 East.
She was born Patricia Ann Brooks in Wayne County, Indiana on October 16, 1944 to Albert J. and Jessie Marker Brooks.
Patti was a 1962 graduate of Fountain City High School. She worked as a caregiver for many years at the New Castle State Hospital and later in group homes through Achieva Resources. She was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City and enjoyed spending time with her family. Patti was also an animal lover and enjoyed riding horses.
Patti will be missed by her husband of 59 years, David Baumer; children, Lori Kinnett & husband, Shane, Pat Baumer & wife, Becky, Brent Baumer & wife, Ann, Beth Wilson & husband, Terry, Chris Baumer & wife, Dawn; 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sue Brooks and nieces & nephews.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerrel Brooks.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 27 at the Smith-McQuiston & Webster Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City.
Services for Patti will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Willow Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged for the charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
