David Lee Amos, Age 77 of Richmond, Indiana passed Monday April 25, 2022 at Rosebud Village. Born March 5, 1945 in Richmond, In to Paul and Ann Amos. David lived in Richmond all his life. He was a dedicated educator for Richmond Community Schools for 32 years. He began his teaching career at Boston Jr. High as an industrial arts teacher. His lifelong nickname of Sugar Bear was coined by the staff then because he ate his Sugar Pops cereal every morning at school. He transferred to Test Jr. High where he taught Earth Science and Physical Education. He also coached their football team through several city championships. He concluded his teaching career at Richmond High School retiring in 2000.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Cheryl and three children, Lindsay Moody of Springfield, Ohio, Matthew (Kelly Amos) of Richmond, and Courtney Amos of Richmond. Three grandchildren, Jackson, Finnley Amos and Sara Moody. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Joyce Amos.
Private family services will be performed at the residence, Georgia and Sanibel Island at later dates. The family wishes to extend deep gratitude to the staff at Rosebud Village and Southern Care Hospice for their compassion and exceptional care.
