Benjamin Kovach, age 88, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at his home.
Born August 4, 1933, in Richmond, to John and Goldie Ramsey Kovach, Ben was a life-long resident of Richmond. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1951. Ben started work at Alcoa and was drafted to the Army in 1954 where he served for 2 years. After being discharged, Ben returned to work at Alcoa where he was a technical manager for capping machine engineering for 44 years before retiring. While working at Alcoa, Ben attended Indiana University East and Ivy Tech Community College. He enjoyed working in the yard, wood working, and tinkering in his garage. Ben was a very good man who never knew a stranger and helped others wherever he could.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ruth Lambert Kovach; daughter, Barbara (Mike) Holmes of Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Bradley (Amy) Holmes and Jennifer Welling; greatgrandchildren, Beau, Rhys, and Eli Holmes and Aiden, Benjamin, and Maddie Welling; brothers, Gene (Carol) Kovach and Nick (Elane) Kovach; former grandson-in-law, Pat Welling; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Lawrence Kovach.
Visitation for Benjamin Kovach will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with grandson, Pastor Bradley Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard.
